These days, America is a consistent reminder of the ever-present tension that lives between the problematic and the fantastic. The story was built on independence, but the emerging theme is interdependence. We need each other.
So if writing a post, or moving your body, or reading a juicy novel, or laying in the grass, or snuggling a pet, or screaming into the trees, or blasting a favorite song creates an avenue for us to connect back to ourselves, to refill what we need to go out and be better for each other… Let’s take the opportunity to do just that.
Recognize the time and the energy and the attention we give ourselves when doing the things that speak to our needs. Then we go back out in the world and be there for others.
The only way out is through.
We cannot, and we should not, go at it alone.
The only way through is together.
My writer friends
of and of write beautifully about interdependence and reciprocity. This post was inspired by their work.If you connected with this or it felt relatable, giving it a “like” or sharing directly with a friend is so very appreciated. I post new entries once or twice a month and you can catch up on my other thoughts about boobs, mothering, living with grief, snacks, and music until the next one arrives. <3
So touched by this, and so honored to be in community with you. Indeed, the idea that we can *continuously* pour out, witness and give is noble, but not sustainable. We inhale, we exhale. It's not just OK, but necessary, to allow both.
That, and "screaming into the trees," which -- wow, I've never tried it, but now I have to!
